100 Day

We've been working in our classroom,
for 100 days.
We've been working in our classroom,
here in the first grade.
Rising early in the morning,
bring our books and pencils too.
Every day we come to first grade,
we learn something new.

During the morning we decorated our 100 day crowns and glasses.  Then, we made necklaces with 100 tasty treats!  Before lunch we began searching our classroom for 100 numbers!  Right after we ate lunch we read the story 100 Day Worries by Margery Cuyler.  We wrote about what we would do if we had 100 dollars.  This afternoon we will continue our 100 day fun with a craft, a song, some math graphing with 100's charts and many more fun filled activities.  Look for more photos later!

January 14-18

Last week, we learned all about penguins.  We knew a lot of fun facts already about penguins but learned many more.  We started with a KWL chart to find out what we knew and what we wanted to learn about penguins.  Then we made some really fun crafts to hang up in the hallway.  We made a couple fun penguin crafts and at the end of the week we made a penguin treat while learning about our sense of taste.

In health we have been learning about our body.  We know all about the heart, lungs, stomach, bones, muscles and our senses.  On Friday, we learned about our sense of taste.  We tried something sour, bitter and sweat.  Many of us weren't fond of our bitter treat.

We also learned about our sense of hearing and made these hats.

We spent most of the week learning about the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  and his work in Civil Rights.  We are very thankful for Dr. King's Dream!!

Last but not least we won the Golden Trash Can Award for keeping our room nice a tidy!!
