Awesome Amphibians

We have been learning about different animal groups for the past few weeks.  Last week we learned all about amphibians.  Amphibians are cold blooded, vertebrates, they must live near water, they hatch from eggs to name a few of the fun facts we learned.  Here are a few pictures of our fun amphibian activities!

We have been talking about telling or asking sentences.  Last week we made a list of question words to look for when we are deciding if a sentence is asking or telling.

Daily Five Rocks!!

We have been working really hard on our Daily 5 activities.  We now know all of the five parts of the Daily 5.  They include: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Work on Writing and Word Work.  We have made it past 15 minutes without stopping to fix or change something.  I know it is absolutely amazing and awesome to see the students excitement!  I have never been so enthused about centers like the Daily 5 before.  All the students are using this time to become better readers and it is a wonderful thing to see.  I took a few photos the other day as I smiled from ear to ear with how awesome my little first graders were doing!!!!!
